In 1978 - finished high school at Keyih Bahri (Red Sea) comprehensive secondary school. In 1982- received his BA in Sociology from AAU(Addis Ababa University),and joined the IES (Institute of Ethiopian Studies) as a researcher. In 1992- received his Ph.D. in Anthropology from Stanford University in the USA. Afterwards continued his Post-doctoral studies at Yale University in the USA. In 1994- joined Asmara University in Eritrea and worked variously as Department Head ,lecturer and researcher at the department of Archaeology and Anthropology ,until he was fired from his job because of his alleged participation at the 15th International Conference of Ethiopian Studies in Hamburg ,Germany , this October. Dr. Alexander Naty has published many scholarly articles, attended several academic conferences and served as visiting scholar at several international higher educational institutions. He was a humble and warm person dedicated to his scholarship, with a high sense of responsibility for the well being of his community. He is survived by his wife Aster, daughter, Amaale and his parents. ALEX! It is with profound sadness and shock that, we learned of your passing away. Those of us who happened to know you and consider ourselves your friends, have lost a beloved great friend. Your premature death has caused us deep sadness no words can describe. Alex we are going to miss you! Farewell great friend! Rest in Peace! We will never forget you Alex! I was really shocked when i heard the untimely death of Dr. Alex,,May his soul rest in peace. His freshman Anthropology course was my first class in Asmara University in 1996/97,,,Thank you for the inspirations Doc! May God give his comfort and condolences to your family!
