My mother, Anita Lotte McGuire (geb. *****), died 31 October 2003 after a long illness. She battled an advanced stage of cervical cancer through radiation treatments at Walter Reed Army Medical Center, Washington D.C., in 1996. The cancer remained in remission. I can not thank the doctors and staff at Walter Reed for their heroic and successful treatment of my mother during this time. WRAMC is without a doubt one of the premier hospitals in the world. I am forever grateful for their help and understanding and care while my Mom was being treated there. My Mother later suffered end-stage renal failure and required dialysis 3 times a week. Throughout all her trials and ordeals over the years my Mom remained upbeat and positive. The care and attention she received here in Germany at the Frankfurt Uniklinik Dialysis Center was also the best anyone could ask for. I miss my mother very much. By caring for her and seeing her suffering more and more over time, she left me with some important lessons and insights which I hope to make useful during my own time on this world. God bless us all.
